John Waters is one weird motherfucker. You’ve got to love a movie with Ricki Lake, Iggy Pop, Johnny Depp, and Traci Lords. I guess we’ll see quite a few 1950’s movies, since a 40 year old writer and director in the 90’s came of age in the 1950’s. I am really glad I never watched this before turning 43 because I would not have appreciated it for all its weirdness before. There are a number of confederate flags that would be harder to swallow today and I swear Johnny Depp says he wants to sing a song that is ‘colored’. Interesting times.
